Parkrun no. 2

  • I woke up early & was in good time for the parkrun, & saw to the bunnies before I went.
    • I feel virtuous for the day & am likely to get my 10k steps
  • Met a few people from the club so had a nice chat beforehand.
  • Started slightly nearer the front & started off at a faster speed than my normal.  Settled into a decent pace with a guy from the club & he kept me going when I was flagging.
    • & talked me into a sprint finish!! Didn't know I had that in me 😲  plus we didn't get passed, there was someone right behind.
    • Got to run up the steps both times for this one, an ambition fulfilled.
    • & someone had been round with chalk & put smilie faces & love parkrun & similar messages around.
    • bacon butties & a cuppa after!
    • The weather was good to us, it was cool and dry with a little wind - those are the best conditions
    • New PB! (I beat last time by over a minute)
    • Just about got myself up the stairs when I got home, means I gave my all in the run / finish 😅
    • I remembered my hayfever tablet & spray
    • I'm loving the phone pocket in the leggings, way more comfy than the arm holder though I was pleased with that at the time
  • Husband cooked lunch & has cleaned a little
    • I've done enough to feel like I helped
  • I parted with a top I've known for years is too small & never wear.

Parkrun

Just in case....  last night I got my barcode printed, directions sorted, clothes set out for the morning, even got ready plasters & trainers.

I was awake early & reading a book, & decided yes I will!
Enjoying my book, made notes for my blog, I love reading in bed in the mornings.
I got up early enough to see to the bunnies before I went, so I did & away I went, leaving husband in bed. Uneventful drive, 15 mins down the road, met some people, & got myself to the start. Painless activity.

Managed the run better than I expected, ran the whole way except for the first go up the stairs where loads of people in front were walking.  Came home to husband cooking bacon, & he'd found a Simon Sinek talk we'd not seen before (googled it, new book out in October).  Then shopping (& he bought me milk) & we've been playing heroes, all is well :-)

Did my 7 minute workout for today, shower (food's always a much higher priority for me) & then yoga methinks.

Successes

I made it to running, just.  It's friendly.
Also made some decent progress on an activity I've been avoiding.
Successfully delegated another action I've been avoiding.
Progress all over the place, & some breathing room.
Husband ordered me my favourite with his tea, it was waiting for me when I came home from running.
& he made me hot chocolate 😍

good day

I had a good day, got stuff accomplished, wandered in the sunshine.
On top of the paperwork at work (phew!)
Plenty of steps (15k!)  & enjoyed the chat at couch to 5k.

In a good mood, nicely sore from weights yesterday.
Bunnies are healthy & happy, saw them binkying around in the run.
Ate plenty of fruit.

Run

weather was good for the 10k, I got up in plenty of time & got myself organised to walk down to race HQ.  Had a pleasant walk & sat listening to the sea for a while.

The traffic was mostly considerate & patient for the runners crossing the road.  Loads of runners said thanks or gave a little thumbs up as they passed.

Home for lunch, husband got my text & cooked bacon.

Had a lovely relaxing afternoon, & am feeling relieved (though slightly sad) about admitting to a hobby that's passed, & offering to sell my collection.  There are newbies starting so it's a good time.  It's overdue.  Have also managed to part with a few things out of wardrobe that I will never wear.

productive

Lifeboat guy is back, the day went smoothly.
He's helping out with my hosting tomorrow, & has been really helpful today.

I had some success at work.  It dawned on me eventually that I may meet my deadline this week.  At least I have something to report. & a way forward - that's always good.
I've written some notes for work & got energised.  & that allowed me to beast the weights.

I found the perfect notebook for the new technique I want to try.  & when I thought all my post-its were at work, I saw the ones I kept at home cos they're pretty.

brain power

I pride myself of being smart.  Today I figured out a calculation, & how it was the explanation that was misleading rather than the calculation being wrong.

I'm glad I got the chance to figure it out.  I feel smart again, I needed it.  I'm glad the boss is so sound, & suggests thinking time.  Yep, calm & breathe.  I love how calm he is. I love how calm husband is. I love being around husband, basking in his calm 💖  & he made me a fab tea.  Hopefully soon he'll make me hot chocolate 💃

& to counter that calm, I love getting excited.  So tonight I got my bounce back.  & I put the bounce to good use on the Kinect.  Husband did so well suggesting that.  Have had a good workout, & now I'm warmed up for weights.  Is so convenient having the bench & the weights rack.  There're no excuses for not using them.  Well except that husband's using the bench as a clothes rack.  Means he can't complain about my mess all over the house.  We're well matched 😍

    • big space to pull onto coast road
  • venue was good, roomy & cool
  • the drive into town after was ok too
    • got most of my steps walking to the shops & back in town
  • Hoppins meant gridlock, we were lucky getting across the roundabout

Healthy

  • I joined the running club.  I am enjoying getting out, getting the chat & the exercise.
  • They also run circuit training that I'm enjoying, have been enough times to be starting to get to know people.  I've finally found a viable replacement for bootcamp.
  • I'm improving at both the running & the circuits.

I had food poisoning a while back.  It made me realise how lucky I am (& how thankful) that most of the time I am healthy & functioning.
  • I've been eating more fruit, & enjoying it.
  • settling into new job
    • loving the quickness of the new commute
    • starting to be able to get on with work

I'm back!

can't believe I haven't posted in a few months.  Time flies - am thankful for being busy.

New job.  So excited.  I love getting excited, plenty to get learning, to get improving, & to get enjoying.

New course is going well.  Is easy enough & quite interesting.

The mentoring is going well, am thankful for the nudge to keep me on track.  Also my mentee is enjoying the sessions & finding them useful.  Double score ;-)

Have got myself an exercise routine!  Am seeing progress with the running, & possibly with the strength & conditioning.

Went a-visiting yesterday.  Always relieved when we catch trains ok & get our seats without bother.

me day

a me day, a day to relax, & recharge, & enjoy my favourite things.

I slept well, & had a lazy morning.  Lying in bed playing choose-your-own-adventure book.
Husband fed me well, as always, & willingly.
I got my 10k steps in (on target for 15k!), & had a lovely chat with friend - she's up for exercise anytime, I need to remember that.

& I enjoyed the keyboard, I can still get a tune out, & I found the books easily.

Lots of things I enjoyed, & hopefully the body balance had the desired effect on my neck.
